Split type/portrait type

In this session, we were on InDesign, and using the letter of our first name an our chosen letter  – Joanna Nova – we had to distort letters.

This was done by typing your letter, then selecting type – creative outlines, and then selecting a box over the part of the letter you want to subtract, highlight the letter and box together, select window – object & layout – pathfinder. There would then appear a object and layout window. By selecting on pathfinder, the second icon – subtract – the piece of lettering would be cut.

You then do that process again for the second part of the lettering. Creating these distorted fonts.

The second part of our session was to create a self portrait using the letters of our names. Using my first and second name letters, I created these portraits. Even though this was challenging, this was a fun and creative workshop to do.
