We were set a little project to show our own journeys through infographic design.
I based all my icons on certain aspects of my life, and things that represent me.
The layout of this design is based from my favourite album – Twenty One Pilots, Blurry face’. This album alone means so much to me and reflects who I am, so I thought I had to incorporate it into my piece of work.
This geometric cub is my first icon, as it represents my brother and I, as we are twins, born in August, representing Leo the lion. This is meaningful to me as I designed this to also be my first tattoo, and I also enjoy working with geometric shapes, and also the lines show our connection to each other.
This fist represents secondary school. Growing up I have always been protective of my brother and never left each other. He got bullied in school, which lead me getting into fights to stop situations. This also represents my brother as he had all these issues growing up, and I was always there to experience the problems with him. This icon is very emotional to me and memorable, and was a one of the hardest times of our lives.
This is a geometric design piece of a lioness, to represent my mum, as she is also a Leo. I included this into my infographic of my journey as she has always been there for me, and has shown me the right path to lead. She influenced me at the very beginning to do art. She was an evening art teacher, and used to always take me and my brother along. I would sit in the classes with her and create cards and drawings. This was when she knew and I knew art was going to be my life, and ever since then, she has supported me with my choices, helped with my work, taking me to galleries, and has helped me to be where I am today.
This icon is the icon to my favourite band – Twenty One Pilots. They have been a big influence on my life, as the lyrics mean a lot me personally. The two members feel like they know me because of how inspiring the lyrics are to me.
I incorporated the Welsh flag as an icon as I was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales. This is where my journey started for my life, and growing up in Wales is really just my home. From Wales to Plymouth is a big jump. And even though Plymouth is my new home, I will always think Wales is where it all began.
The last icon is this brush and pencil crossover. Art has always been a big part of my life, probably since birth. I have been inspired by my mum, family, artists and even friends. I do not know who I would be without doing art, and art is just the biggest asset of me.
